WITH MATTER

Birch Contemporary, Toronto

03. 25. – 04. 04. 2016

With Matter explores our complex relationship with material goods and consumption. By intervening in the life cycle of everyday items, the artist repurposes the ordinary: choosing aesthetics over functionality, elevating its ʻobjectnessʼ.

While the viewer recognizes the past life the materials held, this body of work invites you to see the objects transformed when no longer serving their intended purpose.

As we explore the disposable object, the viewer is invited to use their senses in finding the intricate beauty in the banal, brought to life within this installation. This work explores the aesthetic tissue of the disposable object as a form of sensorial language, which never stops being.
